About Brisa Ibizans

 My love for Ibizan Hounds started in 2016 when I brought home my first bitch from Sarah Murphy of Abbaio Ibizans. I had always loved purebred dogs, but there was just something about the Ibizan that completely stole my heart. Their goofy personalities, incredible athleticism, and elegance make them unlike any other breed, and before long, one became five!

I've worked in veterinary medicine for many years, so caring for animals has always been a huge part of who I am. That experience has shaped the way I approach breeding. Health, temperament, and preserving the integrity of the breed will always come first. I believe purebred dogs exist for a reason, and I want to do my part to preserve the Ibizan Hound as the healthy, functional hunting hound it was meant to be. I love dogs that have a purpose and can still do the jobs they were originally bred for.

 My kennel name comes from my very first Ibizan Hound, Breeze. I named my kennel Brisa after her because “brisa” means “breeze” in Spanish, which felt especially meaningful for a Spanish sighthound. Breeze wasn’t just my introduction to the breed; she’s the dog who set everything in motion. Her confidence, personality, and love for being out in the world made it impossible not to fall completely in love with Ibizan Hounds, and she remains the foundation of my kennel. 

Before finding Ibizans, I showed Cocker Spaniels, and they'll always have a special place in my heart. Eventually, though, I realized I wasn't cut out for all the coat maintenance that comes with the breed! Thankfully, that journey led me to the Ibizan Hound, and I haven't looked back.

Today, my five Ibizans are my family first. Whether we're in the show ring, enjoying performance events, or simply relaxing at home, they make every day better (and definitely more entertaining). I love sharing this incredible breed with others and am passionate about breeding healthy, sound dogs that are beautiful, true to the standard, and wonderful companions.
